ODE TO A FIDDLER
written by Paul Veremko

They needed a fiddler in heaven,
And you were chosen to go.
You knew all the tunes they wanted,
Tunes of long, long ago.
Arkansas Traveler, Soldier's Joy,
Little Sally Gooden and Red Haired Boy.
Devil's Dream and Cottoneyed Joe
Chicken in the Breadpan
Pickin' out the Dough.

These tunes and so many others,
You learned through the years.
To many they brought laughter,
To many they brought tears.
Now you're gone, old friend,
But I'll see you again
When my time comes and then...
We'll fiddle the tunes of long ago,
The tunes we fiddled down below.
